WENDY GARFIELD, SOPRANO

Wendy was recently heard singing selections from Der Yiddisher Pinafore on the Joey Reynolds radio show to an audience of nine million listeners.  With the Yiddish company she was also featured on television and in the New York Times.Wendy's professional credits have also included Bella Giretti in Paganini, Mi in Das Land des Lachens and Anita in Giuditta.
Ms. Garfield was seen as Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance with the Stage Theatre and as Tessa in The Gondoliers with the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company and Orchestra of Long Island.  She is also a regular member of the Gilbert & Sullivan Yiddish Light Opera playing the roles of Malke (Mabel) in The Pirates of Penzance, Tsipe-Tsviele (Yum-Yum) in The Mikado and Rokhl (Josephine) in H.M.S. Pinafore.
Ms. Garfield was featured as Despina in the sextet from Cosi Fan Tutte in the ASOP gala concert, where she sang among Metropolitan Opera stars.  She participated in the international Walter W. Naumburg Art Song Competition and was a finalist in the Rockaway Arts Council Competition.
Wendy enjoys singing for senior audiences all across Long Island and volunteers weekly for a group of Alzheimer's residents who get so much joy from the music.  There is no greater feeling than seeing their faces light up as soon as the music starts! 

James is a native of South Orange, New Jersey.  He studied piano, accompanying, and conducting at Princeton University, Stanford University, New York University, Columbia University, the Juilliard School, the Music Academy of the West, the Manhattan School of Music, the Mannes College of Music, Tanglewood Music Center, and the Aspen Music School.  Mr. Besser maintains a private vocal coaching studio in Manhattan and he performs frequently throughout the tri-state area as pianist, accompanist, and conductor.
